F.A.Q.

                                                       Questions about our program

Why is your diet different than the rest?

The key to our program is the injection. This is a combination of an amino acid, two B like vitamins and vitamin B12. This injection has been shown in our program to help maintain your energy level on the low calorie low carbohydrate diet. We do not see the fatigue that you would expect. It also  helps decreases hunger. Many of our participants use the injection alone and not require the appetite suppressants.

How much weight will I lose a week?

Weight loss varies from each individual. It can depend on how much weight there is to lose, your age and activity level. Using our injection we regularly see weight loss far above what is officially considered aggressive weight lose which is two pounds a week.

Does the program include prescription appetite suppressants?

Included in the program are the prescription appetite suppressants. Again some of our participants do not need them and use the injection only. These agents can help with appetite control but by themselves have not been shown to help with permanent weight loss. Florida does have regulations that pertain to these agents and those rules are followed.

I have many medical problems can I still participate?

Many of our participants have multiple medical conditions that require regular medications. Many medical conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol improve on the program. Many have been able to decrease or eliminate medications including insulin. Prior to starting the program each participant is evaluated and individual recommendations are made. Dr. Gomeringer DO is a Board certified Family physician. He has been in practice for over twenty seven years. This experience helps with managing medical conditions in a weight loss program.

How much does the program cost?

The initial visit is $250.00. This includes your physical examination, EKG, lab work, diet manual, appetite suppressants, an extensive diet review and your first injection. After that, the active weight loss visits are $75.00 a week and include the weekly assessments, appetite suppressants and the injection.

How often do I have to come to the office?

In the active weight loss phase the visits are weekly. Obviously holidays, vacation and other situations come up and recommendations can be made to cover these situations.

Do I have to get the shot?

No, you do not have to get the injection to participate in the program but we highly recommend it. Individuals that receive the injection regularly have less hunger, more energy and lose weight faster.

I have heard of similar programs and they get shots twice a week. Why is yours just once a week?

Getting to the office once a week on a regular basis is somewhat demanding let alone two times weekly. In twice a week programs many participants miss their second injection. This impacts their weight loss. We feel once a week is enough so our injections have two and one half more active ingredients then many programs so the second visit is not necessary.

Do I have to prepay?

No our program is pay as you go. There are no prepayments required.

How long do I have to stay in the program?

The length of participation is up to you. Initially the physician and you will suggest a goal weight. It is recommended that you stay in the program until you reach your goal weight and participate in the maintenance program. Your participation is up to you.  You can stop at any time. With our current economy some of our participants have had to stop due to financial situations. Many of them have come back to pick up where they have left off.  Many were able to maintain the weight they had already lost.

Does insurance cover this program?

In the vast majority of situations the answer is no. Most insurance policies do not cover obesity treatments. There are no billing codes for these visits and therapies so insurance companies will not be billed. You should not expect payment from them. In some case participant have health savings accounts that can be used for a wide variety of health related items and services. It is possible that those funds could be used. Each participant would have to contact their own insurer. Again, no insurance companies will be billed.

Are there any other extra fees?

We do offer optional injections and oral agents which can improve some individual's weight loss. They are not required and these agents are also not costly.

I travel or will be on vacation for an extended period of time. Can I still participate?

Many of our participants travel regularly. Many are able to maintain their weight loss on their own. We have developed a program that allows participation to continue in the active weight loss phase when not in town.

How do I pay for the visits?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, cash and checks.
